Buddha Baby – Maya

Maya has a very special habit – she finds a pillow and puts it in her mouth and then her body freezes like she is in a meditation – it is very calming to watch her and she does it all the time – We call her BuddhaBaby

BuddaBaby smallzen puppy, with a holy pillow
in a hypnotic state, where peace will billow

with so many Pillows around the house, both large and small
a pillow is always in her mouth, worn like a prayer shawl

Calming her
when she feels distress
a way to be
and to decompress

Its really pretty funny, watching her sweet and charming ways
mouth watering, chewy and runny, her body frozen, her clear eyes aglaze.

Its a meditative way of being, helps even those around her.
a special way of inner seeing, transforms the way in which we were

No sooner than she gets the urge, to make a prayerful moment
does from out of nowhere a pillow emerge, a most necessary component

an observation that I can share, of Maya’s serious habit
this gesture has a magic there, like pulling a hat out of a rabbit

the next time I get all bent out of shape, I think I’ll try this unique technique
I’ll find a pillow for my own escape, instead of voicing my wrongful critique    Please click to read entire poem
